Accademia Teatro alla Scala (Italy)
La Scala’s dedication to nurturing new talents began in 1813 when the Theatre opened the School of Ballet, an institution that is today internationally recognised as one of the best of its kind. The Theatre’s calling to encourage the growth of new talent was further strengthened in the 1950s with the founding of the Scala Cadets in order to provide historic continuity for the traditional Italian lyrical opera. In 2001 the Accademia Teatro alla Scala became a private foundation, taking on the structure it has today which covers a multitude of professions tied to the performing arts and a wide offering of courses for training, specialisation and workshops.
