'Cheers!': MoMo’s Fancy Dress by Make Friends With Puppet

Venue Date & Time Price
Theatre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre
$180, $120

With needle and thread, a colourful dress is made.

Each stitch represents a deep love from the heart.

A wonderful gift from Old Tailor to send a doll on her adventurous journey to find herself.

About the Programme

MoMo is a doll.  She is tired of her ordinary looks which attracts nobody to pick her up when she is being sold in the stall on the street.  She dreams of the exciting world outside the old neighbourhood where she lives.  How exciting would it be if she could look like the high-priced dolls in the high-class goods stores, and be the playmate of rich kids!

Although he does not want MoMo to leave, Old Tailor still digs out the scraps from his drawer, chest and cabinet, and sews a fancy dress with rainbow colours just to make MoMo happy.  Look! MoMo turns into a doll that every child loves, and is taken home by a rich kid.  But little does it know that behind all that glamour, a nightmare is just beginning…

The fancy rainbow dress takes MoMo through the darkest hours of her life, until she finally returns home, to the warm loving embrace of Old Tailor.

MoMo’s Fancy Dress is another heartwarming puppet tale presented by Make Friends With Puppet, following the highly successful The Child King.  Intricately engineered puppets move with original music in a world that appeals to the whole family, as MoMo takes you all on its exciting adventures in puppet land.

Programme Length

The programme lasts for about 70 minutes without intermission.

The Arts Group

Make Friends With Puppet (MFWP) is a puppet theatre with energy and creativity.  In the past few years, the major performances are children puppet musical.  With retaining of traditional puppetry arts, we also emphasize living as a creative element.  MFWP produced high-quality puppet show and had tour performed more than 500 shows.  At least 130,000 audiences had watched our puppet shows.

MFWP aims using puppetry as a tool to introduce performing arts to everyone.  A good children performance should not only limited to children’s cognition, but also has a power to communicate with adult’s heart.  Therefore, we put forth effort to create a lively and simple story content, but to use various puppet styles and versatile presentation skills to explore audience’s creativity.  It provides a platform for old and young to communication through their living.  We believe only making ‘live’ for puppet theatre, puppetry can be well developed in Hong Kong eventually.

Puppetry is an art form who gives people a feeling of isolation, the real and the illusion.  Yet, children show is generally regarded as an entertainment.  MFWP persist to look for social living as a creative element to produce a fascinating and unique puppet show through the essence of puppetry.
