About the Programme

Connecting dance, light, video and technology to reveal the ultimate reality between body and information world

Node, a traffic hub where people from around the world come and go. The old man in the desert, our protagonist, almost knows everything of the world…

From data to information, from senses to cognitive, body becomes a platform in creating perception and meaning. In the time when it is hard to determine genuineness among information, can we depend on our senses in understanding the truth? Is there still true knowledge that can nurture wisdom?

Directed by Takayuki Fujimoto of Dumb Type and choreographed by Tsuyoshi Shirai, in collaboration with Butoh and contemporary dancers, a musician and a team of independent computer and sound programmers; Node / The Old Man of the Desert is an allegorical performance of the body and digital technology, reflecting the unprecedented reality we are facing today.
