PSY is a fabulous circus performance telling about the murky underworld of the human psyche, traveling through the various characters’ dreams, visions and memories. The sophisticated acrobatic acts include juggling, Chinese pole, German wheel, aerial rope and teeterboard blend well with avant-garde dance, physical comedy, projections and music etc. It was premiered in Montreal, Canada in 2010, then toured and was well received in the USA, the UK, Japan and France.
By juxtaposing the darker issues such as insomnia, amnesia, paranoia and hypochondria with the invigorating and life-affirming language of circus arts, PSY brings out the humor, beauty and commonality of various neuroses, all the while celebrating the power of the individual to surmount their ailments and self-imposed restrictions, finding moments of strength, courage and joy while flying through the air.
|Les 7 Doigts de la Main (Canada) (The 7 Fingers)|
Les 7 Doigts de la Main (The 7 Fingers) translates literally as "the 7 fingers of teh hand". It is a twist on a French idiom (“the five fingers of the hand”) used to describe distinct parts united tightly, moving in coordination towards one common goal. The arts group was founded in Montreal, Canada in 2002 by seven seasoned circus performers who, by combining their distinct talents and experiences, work towards their common artistic goals on bringing circus with the beautifully awkward dexterity of a 7-fingered hand. Its productions include The Cabartes, Fibonacci Project, Loft, Traces, La Vie, PSY and Patinoire which are touring extensively around the world with critical acclaim. With the dynamic energy, the team will continue to apply their unique brand of hands-on creativity to all their ventures.
The programme lasts for about 115 minutes including an intermission of 15 minutes
