Brian Eno's Music for Airports
New Audio-Visual Counterpoint

Welcome on board airline CM! Fasten your seat belts as members of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble takes you through a sample-infused electro-acoustic soundscape. Riveting electronic symphony and live video projections will reconstruct the old Kai Tak Airport - the real and the imagined - in this audio-visual portrait of a disappearing city.

Five of Hong Kong's best experimental musical talents will pay tribute to the Godfather of electronic music - experimentalist Brian Eno, whose Music for Airports single-handedly invented the genre that is now known as ambient music. This is certainly an experimental music mega event that you do not want to miss!

Refresh your ears with a CM hand-picked mix of experimental audio-visual compositions that promises to extend your horizon way beyond the cruising altitude.

Contemporary Musiking (CM)
Artistic Director: Samson Young
Today's Platform for Contemporary Music

Founded in 2007, is a Hong Kong-based arts organization that is solely devoted to the promotion and creation of contemporary music and experimental music. Since its inception, CM has impressed local and overseas audiences with its daring programming and highly experimental productions that merge contemporary music with technology and new media. Past productions include Electric Requiem: God Save the Queen, in collaboration with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong ; Hong Kong Explode, a multimedia rendition of Bach's classic Two Part Invention, re-arranged for New York's DITHER electric guitar quartet; and Box of Revelation, a unique performance of Messiaen's epic Quartet for the End of Time that is housed inside of a Facebook-inspired interactive installation, staged by members of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

CM believes in contemporary music as a relevant performing art form, and sees the desperate need for a forward-looking platform for musical experiments in Hong Kong. CM regularly invites overseas musicians to collaborate with local composers. In addition, through its strategic partnership with arts organizations across genres, CM provides a cross-disciplinary, multi-media platform for composers to experiment, explore and expand.
