A meteor shower of unlikely moments

'The most successful aspect of Scattered is its integration of film and movement.'

The Times, UK

'The choreography is lean, incisive... the work speeds past in a continuous stream of events, highly physical, often near-dangerous.  It is fascinating to watch!'

Oxford Times, UK

'The 70 minutes simply flew past, and I could have sat through it again immediately.  With Scattered, Finnan and his talented dancers have taken the company to a new level.'

Dancing Times, UK

About the programme

Scattered explores our relationship with water and how it surrounds us in different forms throughout our lives.  Performed on a huge curved floor (think of a skateboard half pipe) which disappears skywards, Scattered uses projection technology, daring dancing plus aerial harnesses and bungees to create an extraordinary world in which the dancers move seamlessly in, on and through the image.

Programme Length

Running time of this performance is about 70 minutes without intermission

Art Group

Motionhouse was founded in 1988 by Kevin Finnan (artistic director) and Louise Richards (executive director).  The company has since become one of the leading dance theatre companies in the UK.  Finnan was honoured to be appointed as Choreographer and Movement Director for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games .

Motionhouse’s performance is physical dance and powerful visual theatre showing a sensory feast, choreographed seamlessly to take you on a journey.  Most people remark on how cleverly everything fits together, with evocative imagery, film, music and instantly recognisable moments.  Motionhouse has won numerous awards including winning the Audience Prize at both the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards in the UK and at the MiramirO Festival in Belgium in 2006.
