Guizhou is situated in the southwest of China. It boasts picturesque landscapes, pleasant climate, rich natural resources, and an interesting demographic mix of ethnic minority groups. There is a Chinese saying that describes the uniqueness of Guizhou - “A different sky every ten miles, and different customs even within one mountain”. It has therefore given birth to many rare cultural heritage gems. In this spectacular, Genesis and Spirit : A Showcase of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Guizhou, the programme is made up of the songs and dances of the various ethnic groups in the region threaded through by the important genre of Guizhou that has been inscribed onto UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Grand Song of the Dong Ethnic Group.
