The Company

The Tango Fire Company was established in Argentina in 2005 by its producers Andrew Kay and David Vigo. The company premiered Tango Fire Flames of Desire in Singapore in April 2005. In August, they presented in Edinburgh Fringe Festival with an instant success. This occasion led to the company touring extensively around the world over the past 6 years. The group Tangos are choreographed by German Cornejo with Yanina Fajar as collaborator. The individual couples choreograph their own solos as tradition in the world of Tango in Argentina. Allowing the couples creative freedom creates a showcase of the five couples’ different styles to make the Tango Fire Company unique in the world of Tango.

At the age of 10, German Cornejo started learning Tango, by 15 he obtained a degree from Gatell Conservatory of Dance with the honourable title of Master of Tango. In the following years he broadened his skills by learning classical and contemporary ballet, jazz and acrobatic techniques and qualified as a Master of Choreographic Composition at the National Institute of Arts.

Cornejo won the "Gold New Talent” prize in the well known TV show Susana Gimenez. After seven gold medals obtained in a series of Contests for Youth in Buenos Aires Province, and more than 20 first prizes at national level, Cornejo became World Champion of Tango in 2005.

He joined the Tango Fire Company in 2006 as Assistant Choreographer and Lead Dancer. Cornejo is regarded as one of the best teachers of Show Tango in Buenos Aires with many of his students reaching top positions in the finals in the Tango World Cup from 2006 - 2010. In August 2011 Cornejo trained and choreographed the winners and the runners up of the World Tango Championships.
