Huang Feihu is a famous general of the Shang Dynasty. His family has had a history of being loyal to the throne for seven generations. But Emperor Zhou rapes and kills his wife, and causes his sister to commit suicide. In devastation, and with the avowed support of his generals, Huang finally decides to rise in revolt.

Qian Yulian receives a marriage annulment from her husband, and also hears from her maid, Dongmei, that her step-mother will force her to remarry.  So she escapes from home during the night. As she arrives at the bank of the river where she and her husband had made their lovers’ pledge, she is heartbroken and throws herself into the river.

Vengeance at the Lion Pavilion

Wu Song wants to avenge his elder brother’s death and chases down Ximen Qing.  When he hears that Ximen is at the Lion Pavilion, he goes there on a rampage to find him. He is engaged in a fierce fight with his henchmen, but finally succeeds in killing him and avenges for his deceased brother.

Saving Pei from The Reincarnation of a Beauty

Pei Yu, the scholar, is being kept by the Prime Minister, Jia Sidao, at his residence.  The ghost of Li Huiniang appears in front of Pei to tell him of her sad fate and help him escape.

Xiang Yu and Liu Bang are in a combat for power to rule over the Central Plains, but Xiang is losing.  His army pitches camp by the Wujiang River.  Since the battle has gone on for many days and Xiang has not returned to camp, his favourite concubine Lady Yu is worried. She leaves her tent and goes round the camp grounds, expecting his return.

Hongxian Steals the Box 

Tian Chengsi, leader of the Weibo army zone, ogles another leader Xue Song’s land and plans to attack. Xue is worried about the onset of war, but his maid, Hongxian, has a plan. A skilled swordswoman, she steals a box from Tian’s camp and puts it under his pillow, to show the latter that there are capable fighters in Xue’s army. Tian gets so frightened that he retreats.

The Phantom Union

This is a love story that transcends life and death.  Du Liniang, the daughter of the Prefect of Nan’an, has an amorous dream with a scholar, Liu Mengmei. She wakes up and pines for him so much that she dies.  Liu calls at her portrait and Liniang’s spirit appears to meet him.  The romantic dream is finally realized.

Three Duels Against the Skeleton Demon

Monk Tripitaka and his three disciples are on their way to the West to get the Buddhist scriptures. They pass by the Bony Mountain where the demon, Bony Ghost, makes its haunt. This is a zombie demon who is vicious and cunning, and can transform into many forms. It wants to eat the Monk’s flesh to attain immortality and transforms into a village girl sending food to the mountains and an old woman on pilgrimage.  But its tricks cannot fool Wukong the Monkey King.  The third time it transforms into an old man, but Wukong crushes it again. After some fierce fighting, Wukong manages to eliminate the demon and its gang. The Monk’s party of four continues their way to the West.
