Barrier-free Facilities

To strive for a barrier-free performing venue, the Ko Shan Theatre is committed to providing equal access for all to ensure that everyone can fully participate and enjoy the arts. We shall pay attention to the needs and limitations of persons with disabilities in using venue facilities and to offer them suitable assistance.

Currently, barrier-free facilities and services provided at KST are:

Toilets for persons with disabilities at the ground floor and first floor
Braille and tactile markings and audible signal in passenger lift
Designated spaces convenient for wheelchair users in Theatre
Audio and visual signals of the emergency alarm system
Designated car parking space for persons with disabilities

Improvement Projects

Further improvement works in the pipeline include:

To provide automatic door to one of the main entrances to the ground floor
To improve the accessibility and facilities of the toilets for persons with disabilities at ground floor and first floor
To provide tactile guide path and Braille and tactile floor plans at the ground floor and first floor
To retrofit the enquiries counter to a barrier-free counter
To provide assistive listening system at the enquiries counter and theatre
To provide barrier-free toilets at the ground floor and first floor of the theatre backstage
To construct a covered escalator and barrier-free ramp at the Ko Shan Road Park to connect the theatre with the Ko Shan Road (Please click here for location plan)

Construction works will take place in phase from July 2011 onwards for completion by end of 2012.

Owing to the barrier-free access improvement works, certain facilities and areas of the Ko Shan Theatre and the Ko Shan Road Park will be affected. Proper notices and signage will be displayed and our staff would be pleased to provide assistance to hirers and patrons as necessary. For details please contact us at 2740 9216.
