Cinema (For Film-related Activities Only)
Ordinary Bookings
 
Ordinary booking applications are accepted on a half-yearly basis during the sixth month prior to the month of hire and processed collectively.

Booking applications should be
forwarded in

January - June of the next year

 

Applications received after the Ordinary Booking Period are considered as Late Bookings, and will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.

Applications received less than two weeks before the desired hiring date will be considered on individual merits.
 
Hiring Charges
 

 

Basic Charges

(1) For each function not exceeding 3 hours.

$1,500 *

(2) For each half hour or part thereof in excess of 3 hours

$300 *

 
Rental Subsidy Scheme is available for eligible non-profit making organizations.
 
In the case of a booking of the Cinema where the event involves admission charges, "Charges Based on Gross Ticket Proceeds" shall apply which here refers to the difference, if any, between the actual hire charges payable and the basic charge. The rate marked with an asterisk(*) for functions at the Cinema are the basic charges only. The actual hire charges payable for the session (excluding any charges for miscellaneous additional services) will be the basic charge or 10% of the gross ticket proceeds, whichever is the greater.

For the purpose of calculating the gross ticket proceeds, complimentary tickets not exceeding 5% of the total number of seats per function will not be taken into account. Any quantities in excess will be regarded as tickets sold at the top ticket price as shown on the approved ticket price scale.

Cinema The Archive cinema has 125 seats and four wheelchair spaces. It is furnished with projectors that can run at various speeds, video projection equipment of various formats (e.g. DVD, LD, VCD etc), a screen that caters for different aspect ratios, a high-quality sound system and simultaneous interpretation booths.

Exhibition Hall

The Archive exhibition hall is 200 square metres large fully equipped with railed modular panels, multidirectional spotlights and video projectors. Besides regular exhibition programmes that highlight the Archive's collections, we also scout for precious film materials from outside sources for display.

To strengthen collaboration with overseas film archives and other educational institution is one of our targets in the long run.
