Ever since Stephen
Page, the Artistic Director of Adelaide Festival 2004, directed
the indigenous segment of the Opening and Closing ceremonies
of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Bangarra Dance Theatre signifies
something not just aboriginal, but something that blends the
new and the old. Their performances have been making important
marks on modern Australian cultural identity, entwined with
spirituality and philosophy brought about from 40,000 years
of living traditions. Corroboree promises to be a
modern dance filled with striking theatrical images, spelling
out a mission of feverish intensity. A dance critic hailed
it as a "work resonated far beyond the normal reach of
dance". Absolutely an evocative journey not to be missed!
Post-performance talk
(in English) on 2 Nov 2002.
Programme duration is about 90 minutes with an intermission
of 15 minutes.
