Members of the Meeting Point Artists Association (Canada)
and the Confederation of Hongkong Visual Artists will jointly
contribute about 100 pieces of original work of art. Both organizations
share the vision of recognizing and promoting the huge diversity
of world art and culture, and bringing their art together within
the framework of multi-cultural patronage and international
exchange to this worthwhile exhibition - Art Bridge:
Canada and Hong Kong Art Exhibition.
The exhibits cover a wide range of content and styles. Realistic
and powerful, oil works by renowned artists Lee Byng and Ng
Po-wan show clear traces of Impressionism. Works by Simon Wong
and Lam Lap utilize both Western and Chinese drawing techniques
by a colour-and-ink combination, giving a strong character.
The papier-mache sculptures of Pat Strakowski are simple in
form but rich in narrative sense. Chu Hon-sun is seen developing
a novel technique in his sculptures inspired by paper cutting
in Chinese folk arts, while the colourful oil prints of Huh
Mee-youn depict wonderfully the marvelous Canadian landscapes.
