"Omara Portuondo is a true Cuban icon... her voice is note
perfect and beltingly powerful."
~ Daily Telegraph

Who can truly be described as a living legend? The one and only female vocalist in the legendary Buena Vista Social Club™... Omara Portuondo. The diva from Havana is the ultimate interpreter of Cuban music. At the age of 15, she was already performing with the prestigious Tropicana Cabaret. Her solo career started in her 20s and she has since become well known for her passionate 'feeling' (filin), a Cubanised style of the Bossa Nova with American jazz influences. Her collaboration with such Cuban masters as Compay Segundo, Rubén González and Ibrahím Ferrer in Ry Cooder and Wim Wenders' recording and film projects in 1996 and 1998 have further accelerated her career. Not only has she a Grammy under her belt, Omara has also appeared at one of the world music circuit's most prestigious venues, New York's Carnegie Hall. She recorded Buena Vista Social Club presents... Omara Portuondo, her first solo album with World Circuit Records, in 2000 and has since appeared at the UK's Glastonbury Festival and jazz festivals in Canada, the USA and Japan.
Hailed as 'The Edith Piaf of Cuba', Omara's intoxicating voice has introduced the wonderful sounds of Havana to the world. Her Flor de Amor Tour is backed by top musicians from Cuba and Brazil, who also played on her latest album. Omara's heavenly voice is unmatched. So don't miss your opportunity to mellow out with a superstar vocalist, as she shares her incomparable talent with Hong Kong. Havana, so far away; yet so close...
