Hola!
This autumn is going to be hot with the 'Latin Passion' Festival around.
To promote understanding and appreciation of different Latin American cultures, the 'Latin Passion' Festival presents an exhilarating range of music, dance and theatre programmes, demonstrating both traditional and contemporary performing arts from a range of countries.
The Festival opens on 20 October with legendary music diva Omara Portuondo of Cuba's Buena Vista Social Club. Internationally acclaimed companies and ensembles from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, the USA and local groups from Hong Kong are set to perform in the four-week festival. From Tango to Samba, from Latin classics to Bossa Nova, and from Salsa dance parties to theatre productions adapted from Latin American literature, the Festival promises programmes for all. Along with performances, a host of additional activities have been organised, including exhibitions, workshops, book displays, master classes, meet-the-artists sessions, free mini-performances, and fiestas at Victoria Park.
The 'Latin Passion' Festival is complemented by 'Latinamerica 2005 Festival' taking place during the same period. This festival is presented by seven Latin American Consulate-Generals and offers insights into their countries' diverse cultures through film shows, exhibitions and community activities.
