Ding
Richang,
an award-winning Chinese regional opera, is a Chiu Chow opera based
on the heroic deeds of Ding Richang who tried to fight off the foreign
invasion in China back in the early 20th Century. The Nymph of
River Lo is a traditional popular story about the relationship
of Warrior Tsao's two sons and their struggle for power during the
Warring States period. This is a special collaboration between Guangdong
and Hong Kong Chiu Chow opera artists. It provides an unusual opportunity
to take a deeper look into regional Chinese theatre arts.
